Hypothetical sanctions

City keeps its results but loses points. Positions, the title, European places and relegation are recalculated.

City goes to the bottom of the table in the chosen season, so the club that would have been relegated in its place stays up. City’s results are removed from every later Premier League season. Which division City would then play in cannot be modelled: those fixtures never happened.

Speculative effects

These are speculation, not fact. The Premier League case concerns the Premier League only. The effects below model what might follow outside that case, using public data and simple mechanical rules. They are not predictions, findings or statements of what should happen, and no competition has said it will act on them.
Lower-league ripple

If the Premier League scenario keeps a club up, its recorded next season in the Championship is removed, and so on down. No replacement fixtures are invented.

Cup trophies

Cups City won in the selected seasons are shown passing to the beaten finalist. Earlier rounds are not replayed. These competitions are run by the FA, EFL, UEFA and FIFA, not the Premier League.
